British-flagged ship sinks off coast of Greek island with 17 passengers on board

A tourist boat carrying a British flag has reportedly sunk off the coast of Greece with 17 passengers on board.
An alarm was sounded to the port authorities on Thursday morning reports that there was a boat sinking off the coast of the Greek island of Milos.
It is not currently known why or how the boat sank.
News24/7 reports the boat was carying a British flag and that the incident has left 12 passengers in the water.
A huge rescue operation is now underway to safely recover all of the passengers.
Three naval vessels, two ships, a private vessel, a navy helicopter and an air force helicopter are said to be operating at the site.
The Ministry of Shipping spokesperson Nikos Kokkalas said a danger signal was sent from the 30-meter yacht.
Mayor of Milos, Manolis Mikelis, said: "We have information for 17 people, we are in the process of collecting people from the sea.
"At the moment there is wind in the area and it is making a lot of waves, we were told about a yacht.
"With every reservation, the boat has been overturned."
The boat overturned in the sea, northwest of Milos.
The coast guard said several vessels and a navy helicopter were assisting.
