‘Disgusting’ mob of 15 bashes boy, 14, in attack that ‘could have killed him’

Police have appealed for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was battered by a 15-strong mob in an "absolutely disgusting" street attack.

Mohammed Idris was punched to the floor and had his head repeatedly stamped on in broad daylight.

His mother Shafina Bi told Birmingham Live that he "could have been killed" and had been left "petrified".

Mohammed was treated for cuts, bruises and a black eye after being taken to hospital by ambulance.

He has been kept away from school since the attacked near his home in Washwood Heath, Birmingham, on May 19.

Mum-of-five Shafina, 35, said: “He could’ve been killed.

"He was face down and they were stamping on his head.

"Thankfully, there are no internal injuries.

“He’s petrified that this will happen again and he’s still recovering from the injuries.

"He’s scared to go back to the same area.”

His mother has kept him away from school since the violence.

Mohammed was walking to a local gym with a friend when the gang struck for no reason on Wednesday, May 19.

The teenager says he can identify some of those involved. After the beating he was warned not to tell anyone, Shafina said.

Mohammed managed to get home and his shocked mother called for an ambulance. He left Heartlands after two hours.
