Dog can’t contain her joy after owner returns home from first weekend away

A dog was unable to hide her excitement at seeing her owner after being away for the weekend – and the video has left viewers in tears.

The footage, posted to Reddit yesterday (July 26), shows the pooch charging down towards a garden gate.

She spots her owner on the side and desperately tries to open it.

When the man enters, the dog immediately jumps up and hugs him with her tail in overdrive.

She then repeatedly tries to lick his face as someone behind the camera starts giggling.

The video has received more than 3,000 up votes since it was shared by user Mickey Snacks.

In the caption, he wrote: “My girl was so happy to see me after my weekend away.

“It was the first time we’d ever spent any time apart.”

Viewers have since flooded the comments section with their thoughts.

“There are few things as beautiful as doggies happy to see their owners again,” one commented.

Another wrote: “It’s almost like dogs know that time is borrowed.”

While someone else added: “Does not get any better than that! He loves his hooman! Gosh I miss my buddy doing that with me so much!”

It comes after an adorable German shepherd puppy born without his back paws learnt to walk using prosthetics.

But, after a GoFundMe page was launched to raise funds for his prosthetics, the pooch’s life turned around and he can now walk like normal.

Meanwhile, one cheeky dog managed to escape his home before going on a bus adventure around his town.

Rocco, a six-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, grabbed his chance when his owner Jake Shannon was taking out the bins at their home in Rhuddlan, North Wales, last week.
