Gay sex robots herald ‘step towards equality’ in synthetic AI market

Gay sex robots could mark “an important step towards equality” in the synthetic market, a researcher has claimed.

Last month, US company RealDoll gavethe public a glimpse of Henry, a prototype male sex robot withartificial intelligence.

CEO and founder Matt McMullen said they’re currently working on his “sexual preference” and a “bionic penis” powerful enough to “lift trucks”.

Karen Lancaster, a doctoral student at Nottingham University’s Department of Philosophy, believes such designs could have a marked impact on the market.

She told the Daily Star: “I think that having LGBT+ sex robots are an important step towards equality, as sexbots have previously mainly been heterosexual.

“Their creation will allow the LGBT+ community to engage with sexbots should they so choose."

She added: “I think sex robots will become more commonplace and accepted among all communities, but until there are dramatic improvements in AI, sexbots will not be a good replacement for a human-human relationship for most people – of any sexual orientation.”

RealDoll produces some of the most advanced sex robots in the world, some of which are equipped with AI capabilities.

They are able to carry out conversations, mimic orgasms, and develop their own personalities.

With Henry, buyers will be able to set their "sexual preference" prior to shipping, according to Mr McMullen.

He also said their upcoming model will be available for both men and women.

Mr McMullen explained: “Not only do we need to create a different gender, we also need to create a sexual preference in the profile – and this would be something that would also propagate to the female platform as well.”

Matt added that the company's own AI technology – Harmony AI – was initially designed to provide a "bisexual flavour, but not defined as one or the other".

Yuri Tolochko,a muscleman from Kazakhstan who married sex doll Margo last year, earlier said he was keen to try out the model.

He told the Daily Star: “I would like to experiment with such a robot. It would be interesting for me.”
