Harry ‘could return to UK without Meghan in new role’ says ex-protection officer
When Prince Charles takes the throne it's possible Prince Harry could return to a royal role in the UK, according an ex royal police protection officer.
Harry's former security guard has said he doesn't think the Duke of Sussex will see out his days in California with Meghan, and instead could return in some capacity when Charles takes over from Queen Elizabeth II.
Ken Wharfe, a former police protection officer who worked with a young Harry and William and the late Princess Diana, said in an upcoming episode of the Mirror's Pod Save the Queen podcast that he believed Harry might return home without his wife.

Questioned if the Sussexes would come back to the UK to live, Ken exclusively told the Mirror's Pod Save the Queen podcast: "Personally I do and I base that on gut reaction really. I just cannot see them forever more living in California.
"It's clear to me that Harry is not quite a fish out of sea – I mean he is getting involved in charitable work and he has these attachments to Netflix and other companies but quite where they'll end up we don't know.
"But I just think his involvement with his military charities – quite how he runs that on the other side of the Atlantic, I don't know.
"But I just have this feeling that he could well be back in a new role, with or without Meghan – I honestly don't know

"But to answer your question, I do think he will be back in some form as part of his father's plan for trimming down the monarchy because within the next decade that is going to happen."
With Harry and Meghan having controversially quit as working royals in 2020 and now living a life in Santa Barbara with their two children Archie and Lilibet, it doesn't seem likely they'll come back any time soon.
He has visited the UK twice this year already – the first to see his grandmother the Queen on his way to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands in April and the second for the jubilee in June – and at the former spoke of where he saw himself in the future.

Speaking to NBC's Today Show in America at the time, he didn't rule out coming home – but stated his home was currently in the US.
"Home for me now is, for the time being, it's in the States. And it really feels that way as well," he said.
"We've been welcomed with open arms and we've got such a great community in Santa Barbara."
