Hotel bellboy never has to work again as generous Brit guest leaves him fortune

A Turkish bellboy was left a small fortune by a British tourist who visited his hotel.

The substantial sum was the bulk of Charles George Courtney's wealth, who left the money to bellboy Taskin Dasdan and his colleagues.

Courtney's age and the exact amount he left behind were not stated, but it was widely reported the sum is enough for Dasdan never to need work again.

But Taskin said he loved his job so much he wants to keep working.

Despite expressing huge gratitude to the late former guest at his Korur De Lux Hotel in Aydin, west Tukey, Taskin wants to keep working so he can meet people from all over the world.

Dasdan has worked loyally at the hotel for more than 30 years.

The devoted hotel lobby worker told local media he was floored when he was first told the news of Courtney's inheritance.

He told the Bayez Gazete: "We got a phone call from England after Charles passed saying that he had left us a large share of his inheritance.

"At the hotel, we treat everyone equally, we treat them as family, not as tourists."

Courtney had even given Dasdan money toward his education years beforehand.

The Brit's family were taken aback by the late man's decision, which also included small sums paid out to Taskin's hotel colleagues.

Courtney always stayed in room 401, which had become known as 'Charlie's Room'.

Taskin would always remind staff at the hotel of the Brit who went from being a guest to a member of the family.
