Kate Middleton could be the Royal Family's last hope for saving its reputation after a number of scandals, according to a former chief of staff.
The 40 year old Duchess of Cambridge has been lavished with praise recently for taking a leading role in a number of royal events and initiatives, such as her stunning piano performance at the televised royal carol service in December.
She was even said to have taken on the Queen's 'matriarchal role' in November when she stood in for the Queen at the annual Remembrance Sunday service.
And now she has been given fresh recognition by a former chief of staff for mother-in-law Princess Diana.
Patrick Jephson told the New York Post: “As the Prince Andrew scandal shows, the monarchy is in desperate need of reassuringly conventional royal performers
“Catherine is just what these troubled royal times need — it’s no exaggeration that the Windsors’ future lies in her hands.”
It comes after a difficult week for the Royal Family which saw Prince Andrew stripped of his royal and military titles due to the ongoing civil case in the United States over allegations of sexual assault, which he strenuously denies.
Duncan Larcombe told OK! on Friday that the Queen would be very “frustrated” by the situation, which threatens to overshadow her Platinum Jubilee year.
He said: “As a mother, this is the stuff of nightmares.
“The Queen on her Jubilee year, is being hit by this double whammy effect of trouble for the firm and trouble for the family."
Last year also saw a shock interview by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Oprah Winfrey in which they accused an unnamed royal of making comments about their son Archie's skin colour.
But in light of the storms brought by more disruptive members of the family, the calm and steady influence of Kate Middleton appears to be one that has given Her Majesty some comfort in the future of The Firm, according to Mr Jephson.
