A drug addict cut off a man’s penis and dismembered his corpse before hiding the body parts in the shower.

Khanh Xuan Pham, 40, carried out the attack on Goran Stevanovic at his apartment in Sydney, Australia, in January 2019.

Mr Stevanovic had agreed to go round to buy methamphetamine.

The dad-of-two was stabbed in the back, chest and heart as Pham’s girlfriend Kate Lloyd was asleep in bed, the NCA Newswire reports.

He attacked him with such force that part of the knife broke off in his spine.

Over the next several days, Pham skinned and mutilated the body.

Mr Stevanovic’s corpse was eventually found by Pham’s mother, who had noticed a foul smell coming from the bathroom.

She then spotted a pile of body parts in the shower.

Pham had also kept pliers, a meat cleaver, a knife sharpener, cable ties, and several knives.

Judge Helen Wilson told the New South Wales Supreme Court: “The offender … mutilated and partially dismembered Mr Stevanovic’s body, including the excision of a tattoo by which he could potentially have been identified, and by severing his penis.

“The latter mutilation is not explained by a need to dispose of the deceased’s body.”

She said the motives were still “unknown”.

Pham’s lawyers earlier said he was suffering a drug-induced paranoid episode.

He was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 30 years and seven months in prison.

Lloyd was jailed for five years and three months last year after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Mr Stevanovic’s father Dragoslav said outside court: “I am traumatised by the way this killer has murdered our son. I will never forgive him because he has never shown any remorse.

“He did have a long life ahead of him, but Mr Khanh, he took his life, he had no right to do that.”

In victim impact statements, the family said they were not able to conduct burial rituals after what Pham did to Mr Stevanovic’s body.

The killer will not be eligible for parole until December 2041.

Earlier this month, a young woman accused of murdering her own mum and cutting out her still-beating heart appeared in court.

Anna Lejkovich, 21, is accused of killing 40-year-old Parascovia Leicovici in Comrat, Moldova, on December 11, 2020.
