Lip reader spots Queen’s reflective moment with Charles at Trooping the Colour

The Queen shared a moment of reflection with her son Prince Charles on the royal balcony as the pair took in the sight of former military jets together, a lip reader has suggested.

Yesterday (June 2) marked the beginning of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with the event kicked off by the Trooping the Colour ceremony at Horse Guards Parade.

The ceremony finished with the royals appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony, where they took in a flypast consisting of past and present military jets.

And, standing next to her son Prince Charles, lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Daily Star that the monarch shared a reflective moment with her son while marking her 70 year reign.

Looking to the sky, the Queen could be spotted saying, “that sound is instantly recognisable.”

Charles could be seen to lean in and nod, replying: “absolutely.”

With fighter jets including the Lancaster Bomber made famous during the Second World War – when the monarch was just a teenager – the event marked the changes the Queen had overseen during her 70 year reign.

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not present on the royal balcony as anticipated, the limelight was stolen by four year-old Prince Louis.

Fidgeting with excitement next to his great-grandmother, Louis was spotted by the lip reader excitedly awaiting the Red Arrows, asking: “Are the Red Arrows coming?” before being reassured by the Queen.

Adorable photos then showed the young prince struggling to cope with the noise of the occasion, putting his hands over his ears and pulling a silly face in front of the enormous crowds gathered on the Mall.

During the ceremony, the 96 year-old monarch appeared on the balcony wearing sunglasses and aided by a walking stick.

And, shortly after Trooping the Colour had concluded, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen would not be attending a Thanksgiving Service taking place today (June 3) after experiencing “discomfort” during the flypast.

It was also revealed that her son Prince Andrew would not be in attendance, after he reportedly tested positive for Covid.
