‘Most dangerous’ cartel dumps chopped-up bodies across city with chilling note

One of Mexico's most dangerous cartels has struck again, leaving chopped-up bodies around the city of Irapuato in central Mexico.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) left the corpses in three spots around the town which were all accompanied by the same message allegedly signed off by members of the group.

The message reads: "This will happen to anyone who goes around killing innocent people and selling material [drugs] without the right.

"We make it clear that the CJNG does not forgive acts of cowardice and we only go after the objective, we respect women, children, and the elderly, and you already know that all of Guanajuato is under the command of Señor Mencho.

"Sincerely, Grupo Elite."

Initially three decapitated and dismembered bodies were found near a children's rehab centre.

Later, a severed head was discovered in a cooler near the Office of the Public Defender, and another was found near a military base.

Yesterday a fourth find was reported on Twitter after yet another severed head was found inside a cooler.

All the finds had the distressing note alongside them, Borderland Beat reported.

The notorious group are well-known for their violent antics – just last week, an armed group thought to be members of the cartel opened fire at a bar, shooting at both revellers and bar staff in Irapuato.

Twelve people died in the attack but so far nobody has been arrested.

Much of the violence has been linked to a lengthy rivalry between a local organised crime group, the Cartel Santa Rosa de Lima (CSRL), and the CJNG, which has earned Guanajuato the title of most violent state in Mexico by number of murders since 2018.

The central Mexican state saw a whopping 3,436 homicides in one year that year.

This year Guanajuato has so far recorded 2,471 homicides, about 10% of Mexico's total.
