Mother and young daughter shot in New York’s Times Square
A four-year-old girl and her mother have been shot and injured in Times Square, the New York Police Department say.
The afternoon shooting occurred at 44th Street and 7th Avenue in the New York City’s tourism zone, NBC reports.
The young girl was struck in the leg, a 24-year-old woman was hit in her thigh and a 44-year-old woman was shot in the foot, police said. All three victims were taken to nearby Bellevue Hospital and expected to survive.
Shots were fired after a dispute between a group of men escalated to the point where one of them pulled out a gun, law enforcement officials told NBC.
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio wrote on social media that the three innocent bystanders that had been shot were in stable condition.
No suspects were in custody and a manhunt for the gunman responsible is ongoing, police said.
