Mum baffled as son’s McDonald’s meal is ‘cheese slice and four ketchup squirts’

A mum was left baffled after ordering a cheeseburger for her son but receiving only a slice of cheese with tomato sauce.

Nicola Doherty had ordered a Happy Meal from the Grangemouth branch of McDonald's on Sunday afternoon but had asked to have the onions, mustard and lettuce removed.

She placed the order on Uber Eats, and was confused when her seven-year-old son opened the box and found what had been knocked together for lunch, the Daily Record reports.

The mum said they ended up having to drive to the Earlsgate Roundabout branch to pick up a replacement meal after having little luck complaining over the phone.

"My son only likes cheese and ketchup so when ordering, it asks you to remove what you don't want," Nicola said.

"So I removed onions, mustard and lettuce, leaving the cheese and ketchup ticked. We order this all the time whether online, drive thru or in the restaurant.

"My husband and I were fuming because my wee boy had to wait while the rest of us ate. My son was upset.

"When I called the branch, the manager said that he took the order himself and he asked Uber to phone and query it.

"No one phoned to query anything. He found the order to be strange.

"I asked him to send a replacement for my son to which he said he didn't have the facilities to do so.

"He told me I had to take my complaint up with Uber even although he made the 'burger'."

After visiting the branch in person, Nicola and hubby Stewart were given a replacement meal for their young son with additional fries for the rest of the family.

The cheeky dad then handed over the cheese slice box and 'told the manager to make good use of it'.

Nicola added: "I'm expecting to see their updated menu soon which sells a box with a cheese slice and 4 squirts of ketchup.

"I can laugh now – it's almost like you're waiting for the punchline."

McDonalds and Uber Eats have been contacted for comment.
