‘Perfectly healthy’ mum dies suddenly on holiday, complained of stomach pains

Mystery surrounds the death of a “perfectly healthy” young mum of one who died while holidaying in Jamaica.

Businesswoman Eshe Symonds, 31, died on January 13 and the family are now awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Her sister, Shannon Gordon, told BirminghamLive: “The whole family is just in shock at the moment. We are all devastated. She has a little girl called Shaya.

“Our dad Michael has cancer at the moment so this had dealt him another huge blow. She has lots of sisters and a brother and a step-mum. We are all heartbroken.

“Eshe had flown out for a holiday with one of her friends. Her friend is still over there. We aren't really in contact with her so we have few details.

Jamaican police have been contacted, and are now investigating her death – but her sister said that the investigation is “moving so slowly”.

The only information available about how she died is that she had been complaining of a headache, stomach pains and vomiting while out in Jamaica.

The sister continued: “She died in hospital around 9pm on January 13. It is a shock as she was just perfectly healthy when she flew out. She was quite wild, she loved to party – she was so outgoing and everybody loved her. She lived life to the full, like every day was the last.”

A fundraising page on GoFundMe has been set up to pay for their own post mortem examination and cover funeral costs.

So far, £3,615 of a £15,000 total has been raised.

Her dad posted on the GoFundMe page, writing: “We are asking for help and any donations would be highly appreciated.

“As you can imagine, we as a family are going through a very difficult time.

“I’m 60 years old fighting a long battle of cancer, my daughter (31 years old and healthy) went on a vacation to Jamaica.

“She deserves the best send off, GAZA style as she would say. We as a community can do this by coming together at this time.

“R.I.P Katty you're with the angels now. We Love and Miss You Dearly."
