Prince Harry arranged flowers to be laid on Diana’s grave ahead of Mother’s Day

Prince Harry has never shied away when it comes to keeping the memory of his mother alive and this year was no different as he remembered her from his California home.

The Duke of Sussex who stepped down from senior working royal life in 2020 had organised a stunning tribute to his late mother, who died in a car crash in 1997.

Diana, Princess of Wales was pronounced dead at a French hospital hours after the tragic accident when Harry was just 12-years-old.

Having continued the philanthropy work of his late mother, Diana remains a key part of Harry and his older brother, Prince William's daily lives.

Ahead of Mother's Day on March 14, Harry, now 36, had prepared for a beautiful floral tribute to be laid on Diana's grave, as coronavirus restrictions prohibited him from flying back to the UK.

Diana is buried in the middle of a lake at her family home of Althorp, in Northamptonshire where the Spencer family estate sits.

While Prince Harry arranged a floral tribute, Prince William, 39, shared the personal gestures his three children made to their "Granny Diana".

Taking to the official Kensington Palace Instagram page, William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge's social media team shared the adorable cards that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had made while at home.

Prince George, seven, wrote to his late grandmother: "Dear Granny Diana, Happy, happy mothers day. I love you very much and think of you always, Sending lots of love from George xxxxx."

While his younger sister, Charlotte, five, penned: "Dear Granny Diana I am thinking of you on Mother's Day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte xxxxxxxxx."

The youngest Cambridge sibling, Louis, three, decided to paint a brightly coloured love heart, surrounded by animal stickers.

Alongside the tear-jerking notes from the children, Kensington Palace penned: "This year Mother's Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again.

"But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging. Each year on Mother's Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William.

"Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother's Day."

The palace later revealed that George, Charlotte and Louis had also made a tasty Victoria Spongecake for their mum, the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as sharing a snap of the young Duchess alongside her mother, Carole Middleton.
