Woman scoops over £700k in lottery after missing flight and buying scratchcards
A woman scooped more than £700,000 after missing a flight and deciding to buy a lottery ticket.
Angela Caravella, 51, from Kansas City in Missouri, the US, snapped up a few scratch cards to “pass the time” after getting stuck in Florida.
She scored the top prize on the Fastest Road to $1,000,000 [£716,945], UPI reports.
Angela visited the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee and chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $790,000 [£566,283].
She bought her ticket from supermarket Publix in Brandon.
The shop is now set to receive a $2,000 [£1,433] bonus for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
Earlier this week, a delighted pensioner won more than £70,000 in the Lotto after a hidden pearl gave her “good luck”.
The woman, from Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, hadn’t realised she’d won until officials got in touch.
She scooped 132,237 Aussie dollars [£70,596] in the draw on Saturday, July 24,MailOnlinereported.
She said: “There’s been lots of lucky little moments like finding a carpark easily and now this.

“I was eating a tin of smoked oysters the other day and I found a pearl in the tin. I've had the best luck ever since.
“It’s a complete surprise! I marked my entry with special numbers like my children's birthdays and they are even more special now.”
The pensioner is set to treat her children and other family members with the winnings.
She added: “I’m a pensioner so this will certainly come in handy. It will just make life a lot easier.”
